Add the Italian sausage to a large pot on the stove and cook it on medium high heat breaking up the sausage until it is cooked through.
Once cooked remove any excess grease in the pan
Stir in the remaining ingredients. Scrape the flavorful bits off the bottom of the pot. (this will add flavor to your dish)
Bring up to a simmer, let simmer stirring occasionally for 18 minutes or until the pasta is tender (if the liquid line gets too low while simmering, add in ½ cup more water at a time until the pasta is tender.
