Cut the sausage in half longwise, then slice into half moons.
To a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the oil. Once hot, add in the sausage and cook for 3 minutes on each side to create a golden brown sear. Add in the water and rice mix. With a spatula, scrape all of the flavorful bits off the bottom of the pan and stir everything together.
Bring up to a simmer, turn the heat to low and cover. Let simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the rice is tender. Turn the heat off and let sit for 2-4 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
