To a large Dutch oven or pot on the stove over medium heat add the oil once hot add in the diced onion, diced carrots, and minced garlic let cook stirring occasionally for 8 minutes.
Stir in the meatballs and let them sear for 3-4 minutes this will add flavor.
Add in the rice, broth, seasonings, and peas. Stir well and scrape the flavorful bits off the bottom of the pot. Bring up to a simmer and let simmer covered stirring occasionally for 20 minutes or until the rice is tender. If needed while simmering add in 1/2 cup more broth or water until the rice is tender.
