1lbground beef *or you can use ground Italian sausage, ground turkey, or ground chicken as a substitute*
1yellow onion, diced
1tbspminced garlic
2tspsalt
1tsppepper
1tsponion powder
1tspgarlic powder
1tspdried basil
1tspdried oregano
1cupuncooked orzo
1cupbeef broth
14oztomato sauce
1cupheavy cream
¾cupwater
2cupsfresh chopped spinach
⅓cupparmesan cheese
Instructions
To a large Dutch oven or pot on the stove add the ground beef and onion, break the ground beef up and crumble with a spatula or meat masher, cook the meat through. Once cooked remove any excess grease in the pot.
Now add in the minced garlic, seasonings, and orzo stir well for 15 seconds. Add in the beef broth, tomato sauce, and heavy cream stir well. Let simmer for 3 minutes *stirring often* so the orzo doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot.
Stir in the water, chopped spinach, and Parmesan cheese, let simmer covered with the lid for 10 minutes *stirring occasionally so the orzo doesn’t stick* until the orzo is cooked through and tender. Enjoy!
