Ingredients

  • 1 lb dry pinto beans
  • 9 cups water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • Look through the beans to find any rocks or imperfect beans, discard the bad beans. Rinse the beans over cold water to remove any dirt on beans.
  • Place all of the ingredients into a large pot over the stove. Bring up to a boil then let simmer covered for 3-4 hours or until the beans are tender. Stir the beans occasionally while simmering. If the water line gets too low while simmering add 2 cups of water in at a time. Enjoy!
