Well I am in the UK and have just made my Corn Casserole , it is in the oven as we speak. Cannot get creamed corn over here so adapted your recipe with just a Muffin and corn bread mix from Amazon, sweet corn, a spoon of sour cream, a good dollop of creme fraiche, also a drop of milk, plus the melted butter. I will let you know how it turns out. Will put the cheese on in 40 mins.

Is there some significance for the corn bread with the thanksgiving meal?

We made this for Thanksgiving and it was a big hit! Definitely going in my year round recipe rotation. I used half the butter and no cheese and it was still delicious.
