Ingredients

Sauce:

  • 2 tbs olive oil
  • 1 tbs minced garlic
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning

Meatloaf Mixture:

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese
  • ½ white onion, diced
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • To a large sauce pot over medium heat add in the oil. Once hot, stir in the minced garlic for 20 seconds and then stir in the tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, 1 tsp salt, and 2 tsp Italian seasoning and stir well. Turn heat to low and let simmer covered for 12 minutes.
  • Work on the meatloaf now. Crush the saltine crackers up until they are crumbs. To a large bowl add the saltine crumbs, eggs, and milk then stir well. Once well combined let sit for 7 minutes so the saltines can absorb the milk. Now add in the remaining meatloaf mixture ingredients except for the cheese. Stir to combine the ingredient well.
  • Grease a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray place the meatloaf mixture into the baking dish and form it into a loaf. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 55 minutes.
  • Remove the aluminum foil and sprinkle the cheese over the top. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes. Enjoy!

    Julia,
I’m making the Italian Style Meatloaf tonight for dinner, and it is looking delicious. I just wanted to point out that the directions are missing instructions on what to do with the sauce that was cooked on the stove. I found the recipe through your youtube channel, so I knew what to do with it, but I just wanted to point it out so you were aware.
