Ingredients

  • ¾ lb ground Italian sausage
  • 1 diced white onion , or 1 yellow bell pepper diced
  • 2 cups penne pasta
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 24 oz water , I fill the pasta jar with water to make measuring easy
  • Salt and pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp chili flakes
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • In a large pot add the sausage and cook on medium heat through. Once cooked remove any access grease.
  • Add the diced bell pepper and saute for about two minutes to soften.
  • Add the pasta, marinara sauce, water, and seasonings stir everything to combine and bring up to a boil then drop it down to a simmer and cover with a lid and simmer for about 12-15 minutes or until the pasta is tender. Stir frequently so the pasta doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot. You can always add 1/2 cup more water in if the pasta has absorbed all of the liquid while simmering.
  • Now that the pasta is tender to the way you like it to be add the mozzarella cheese in and stir to combine. Enjoy
