How to Make S’Mores Dump Cake

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9 by 13 baking dish with nonstick spray.

Step 2: Add the pudding mix, hot cocoa mix, chocolate cake mix, and milk directly into the baking dish. Stir well to combine.

Step 3: Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.

S’Mores Dump Cake Variations

  • Use butterscotch chips for a sweeter twist.
  • Swap mini marshmallows for large marshmallows cut in half.
  • Add crushed graham crackers on top after baking for extra crunch.
  • Add a handful of chopped nuts to the batter.

My Pro TipS

Tips and Tricks

  • Stir the batter well so the pudding mix fully dissolves.
  • Watch the broiler closely to avoid burning the marshmallows.
  • Let the cake cool a few minutes before serving so it can thicken.
  • If you want a stronger s’mores flavor, add crushed graham crackers on top.

Recipe FAQs – S’Mores Dump Cake

Can I make this ahead of time?

You can bake it ahead, but add the marshmallows right before serving so they stay soft and toasted.

Can I use water instead of milk?

Milk gives a richer texture, so I recommend keeping it.

Can I use a different cake mix?

A vanilla or yellow cake mix works, but chocolate gives the best s’mores flavor.

Serving Suggestions

Serve warm with: Vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, crushed graham crackers or a drizzle of caramel or chocolate

Make-Ahead, Storage & Reheating

  • Fridge: Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat: In the microwave in 15 to 20 second bursts.
  • Do not freeze. The marshmallows do not thaw well.

    Hi Julia,
In this Smore’s cake recipe, is the chocolate pudding a small box or a large box?
