Ingredients for Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy

This recipe has classic comforting flavors. I’m of the opinion that cream of chicken soup is always a good start to a recipe!

  • chicken breast
  • cream of chicken soup
  • brown gravy powder mix (I usually get the reduced-sodium Walmart brand to keep it all from getting too salty)
  • ranch dressing seasoning powder mix (I always have the Hidden Valley Ranch packets on hand at my house)
  • water

How to Make Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy

Making this meal really could not be simpler. Grease a slow cooker with non-stick spray or use a slow cooker liner to keep everything from sticking. Add the canned soup, seasonings, and water to the bottom of the slow cooker and stir until combined. Add the chicken breasts and stir well. Make sure the chicken is completely coated in the soup mixture.

Cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 4 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through. Shred the chicken with two forks or a hand mixer. Serve!

What to Serve with Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy

This chicken is juicy and tender and so comforting. If you really want to lean into the whole comfort food thing, serve this chicken with mashed potatoes. I love my Garlic and Herb Butter Mashed Potatoes and I think they would be amazing with this chicken. If you’re not feeling potatoes, you could serve this chicken over egg noodles or rice instead.

For a little pop of green, I like to serve this meal with some steamed veggies on the side. Some people think I’m weird but I really love peas. I think they go perfectly with classic American comfort meals like this one.

Love the recipe! Tastes great! But, as someone else already asked, can this be done in the oven instead and what temperature and for how long? Thanks!

I saw your YouTube short about this recipe and searched for the written instructions. On YouTube you say to use the entire ranch and brown gravy package. On this blog it says one tbsp? I went with the you tube version but was confused on which is correct? Cant wait to try it! Thank you.

I made this meal with egg noodles and broccoli the 4 year old loved it! Very easy very quick. The 4 year old mixed it all up like a stew before the chicken. She was proud when her dad said how good it was. She usually wants all the food separated. The noodles were mixed with the sauce and chicken while the veggies were on the side.
    Thank you Julia

I made this last night. My husband and I loved it it was sooo easy. The only thing I did differently was added some spices and added about 1/2 cup of sour cream to the gravy at the end. Will definitely make again

This was really good. Definitely a keeper! Honestly I was hesitant since one of the ingredients was the ranch dressing mix with brown gravy mix. We love ranch, but it just seemed strange at first. I decided to take a chance and I’m so happy I did! I’m thinking of using this same gravy mixture for a pot-pie.
