Easy Teriyaki Chicken

Easy teriyaki chicken is sweet, savory, and better than takeout—made quickly with a bold homemade sauce and tender chicken.

Ingredients 

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/2- 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • cup low sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • Cooked white rice for serving

Instructions 

  • Cut the chicken thighs into small pieces and remove any fatty pieces. To a pan on the stove over medium high heat add the oil once the oil is hot add in the chicken season with the salt and pepper sear the chicken on each side for 3 minutes. Turn the heat to low let the chicken cook completely through. Add in the brown sugar and soy sauce stir well and let simmer for 5 minutes stirring often until the sauce thickens. Enjoy over rice or anything!

    This is a great starting point / inspiration recipe and came together very quickly – exactly what’s needed on those “I don’t want to cook but we need to eat” nights. I chose to add a couple more ingredients to the teriyaki sauce – a half-tsp of garlic and a tsp of crystalized ginger. While letting the chicken rest a few minutes in the sauce, I sliced and cooked an onion in the skillet , removed and set it aside. Then cooked the chicken in the same skillet, adding the sauce and adding back in the onion.

    Delicious! And my kiddos loved it! I added a dash of garlic bc garlic is just awesome lol and I added broccoli- my 2year old literally licked her plate! 👍🏼
