The Best Creamy Chicken Pasta

I love that making this creamy chicken recipe can do the majority of its cooking in the slow cooker to develop the best flavor come dinner time. It gives the homemade cream sauce to meld together and become super tasty.

Ingredients for Creamy Chicken Pasta:

Creamy chicken pasta ingredients
  • Cream cheese: The softened cream cheese is what will make this chicken pasta perfectly creamy
  • Butter: Use softened unsalted butter for the cream sauce
  • Seasoning: All you will need to season the cooked pasta and chicken is minced garlic and a package of zesty Italian dressing dry seasoning
  • Soup: I like to add a can of cream of mushroom soup for added flavor and to get the best texture to this pasta
  • Cooking liquid: Using chicken broth or chicken stock in this recipe works perfectly
  • Chicken: You can use raw chicken breast in the slow cooker
  • Pasta: I like to use angel hair pasta, but you can use your favorite

Tips and tricks for making delicious creamy chicken pasta:

Add pasta to creamy chicken pasta

Chicken to use:

When making everything in the slow cooker, you can use raw chicken breasts.

If you want to skip the slow cooker, you could get a store-bought rotisserie chicken and mix the shredded chicken into the creamy sauce and serve it with the cooked pasta.

Thin the creamy sauce:

When making the creamy sauce, and it is too thick for your liking, you can add a 1/2 cup of heavy cream to the sauce when cooking as needed.

Add even more flavor:

Turn this into a deliciously creamy and cheesy sauce, and add a cup of Parmesan cheese to the sauce when you are mixing up the white sauce. Parmesan is great because it will add a depth of flavor without being super stringy.

Another option would be to add a 1/2 cup of white wine to the sauce; however, this may make the sauce a bit thin.

Hi, Julia: I can’t wait to try the creamy chicken and pasta recipe, but I was wondering if there is a way to cook the pasta in the crockpot along with the chicken? I don’t know if you have tried it, but it would be a great timesaver….thanks!

I follow you on YouTube and this recipe is delicious! My kids devoured this and I’ve made it twice now. I didn’t have cream of mushroom or the zesty Italian so instead I used cream of celery soup and a regular Italian dressing packet and added some red pepper flakes. So good! Thanks for the recipe and keep up the good work.
