Why you’ll love this family favorite recipe!
This is one of our favorite beef recipes to make on busy weeknights, where you are sure to get plenty of protein and vegetables all in one dish.
There is nothing complicated about this dinner dish, and you can have it ready in less than 45 minutes!
Ingredients for Ground Beef Stir Fry:
For the Stir Fry:
- Beef: I like to use lean ground beef with this stir-fry, but I wouldn’t suggest anything higher than 80/20 beef
- Oil: I like to use olive oil or avocado oil since it has a high smoke point for stir-frying
- Fresh vegetables: Use diced red bell pepper, shredded large carrots (I will grab a bag if I am at the grocery store), asparagus that has been trimmed and cut into bite-sized pieces, zucchini that are sliced into half-moons, and a diced yellow onion
For the Homemade Stir Fry Sauce:
- Sauce: Use either low-sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos
- Seasoning: A simple combination of minced fresh garlic and freshly grated ginger works great in this stir-fry sauce
- Vinegar: To get the correct flavor, I like to use rice vinegar or rice wine vinegar in this recipe
- Oil: Toasted sesame oil adds the best flavor to this
- Water: Adding water will help get the right consistency to the homemade sauce
- Thickener: Cornstarch is a great way to thicken the teriyaki sauce
How to Make this Easy Ground Beef Stir Fry Recipe:
Cook the Beef:
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Drain any excess grease, then transfer the beef to a plate and set aside.
Sauté the Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, add the olive oil. Once hot, add all the vegetables and stir-fry for 5–9 minutes, or until they begin to soften but still retain a slight crunch.
Make the Sauce:
- While the vegetables are cooking, whisk together all sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Set aside.
Combine and Finish:
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables.
- Pour in the sauce and quickly stir to coat everything evenly.
- Turn off the heat—the sauce will thicken almost immediately.
Serve:
- Serve hot as-is or over rice, noodles, or your favorite low-carb option.
