Recipe substitutions:

This recipe does use soy sauce; however, another alternative you could use is coconut aminos as a great substitute.

Grab a package of beef stew seasoning if you want a simple seasoning, and omit any of the added spices for this recipe.

Add balsamic vinegar for a little added acidic flavor.

key Ingredients:

  • Beef: Most of the time, I will use a boneless chuck roast for this recipe, but you could also use a rump roast and still get a delicious dinner
  • Sauce: The combination of soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce makes the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and a little saltiness to this slow cooker meal

Recipe FAQs

Cuts of beef to use:

I like to use a chuck roast or rump roast for this recipe. But any tougher cut of meat should work well.

Do I need to rub the spices on?

For this shredded beef recipe, you will only need to add the spices to the sauce rather than putting it on the meat separately.
