Ice cream sandwiches to use:

If you want to make homemade ice cream sandwiches, more power to you! But to keep it simple, I like to use the ice cream bars from the freezer aisle and remove the plastic wrap from each one.

You can use either vanilla or chocolate ice cream sandwiches, depending on what your family likes.

Favorite toppings to make the perfect dessert:

Toppings can make this delicious ice cream sandwich cake stand out even more.  Pick your favorites and have some fun with them:

  1. Caramel syrup
  2. Chocolate chips (mini chocolate chips)
  3. Chocolate syrup
  4. Crushed Ore cookies
  5. Waffle cones broke into pieces
  6. Reese’s pieces

Can I use homemade whipped cream?

If you want to get the best results out of this recipe I would suggest using a store bought whipping topping. However if you want to use homemade whipped cream, I would suggest using powdered sugar with the heavy cream instead of granulated sugar since that will be the best way to stablize the whipped topping. Then use a stand mixer or electric mixer and whip everthing until they form stiff peaks.
