I’m constantly looking for recipes that are a little different than the ones that I have in my weekly rotation. This one is just that! This One-Pot Ground Turkey Pasta is cheesy and spicy with a yummy sour cream-based sauce and fresh cilantro on top. This recipe is an unexpectedly pleasant surprise.
Ingredients
This Ground Turkey Pasta is probably a little bit different than you’re expecting. A lot of my pasta bakes are more Italian influenced, with Marinara sauce and parmesan cheese and basil, but this one is a little different. For this pasta bake, I went with a southwest influence with cumin, sour cream, cheese, and cilantro. Like I said, this For this pasta bake, I used:
- ground turkey
- yellow onion
- red bell pepper
- garlic
- chili powder
- paprika
- cumin
- salt and pepper
- tomato sauce
- chicken stock
- penne pasta
- sour cream
- shredded Mexican blend cheese
- cilantro

How to Make One Pot Ground Turkey Pasta
Making this turkey pasta bake requires just a couple steps and only 20 minutes!
You’ll start by cooking the turkey, onion, peppers, and garlic in a little bit of oil. I like to use this meat chopper to break up the meat easily (no more fussing with a flimsy spatula or wooden spoon!). You’ll cook that until the turkey is brown, then add in the spices for a little flavor.
Next you’ll add in the tomato sauce, broth, and pasta and let that simmer for about 14 minutes, until the pasta is tender.
To finish it off, stir in the sour cream and cheese and stir until it is all melted and incorporated. Serve with fresh cilantro on top and enjoy! If you don’t like the taste of cilantro, you could use green onions instead, but the cilantro is just so flavorful and fresh.
One-Pot Pasta Dishes
One-pot pasta recipes are my favorite kind of recipe, hands down. I mean, is there anything better than carb-y pasta and gooey cheese? Plus, with these recipes all you have to do is dump all the ingredients in a baking dish and bake. Pasta bakes are kind of my SOS meal when I just don’t have the energy to make anything. Here are a few of my very favorite pasta bakes.
