I love this ground beef in the slow cooker. It is so simple to make up in batches and is filled with flavor, and does not dry out the meat.

  1. Great to throw in the slow cooker while at work
  2. Pairs great with any of your favorite veggies for a healthy dinner
  3. It is great for when you need to feed a crowd
  4. Add this to a simple side salad for a quick dinner or spice it up a little with a tasty Ramen noodle salad

Recipe substitutions:

This recipe can work with other ground meat, like ground turkey or ground chicken to switch it up a little.

Use either water or another broth in place of the beef broth.

Key Ingredients:

  • Ground beef: I will use whatever ground beef is on hand, but I really like this with 85/15 percentage since it is juicier, which is perfect when you are slow cooking meat
  • Broth: I add beef broth to the ground meat for easy added flavor, but you can always use water in its place

How to Make Slow Cooker Ground Beef:

  1. Add Ingredients: Place the ground beef into the slow cooker and break it apart with a spoon or spatula.
  2. Add the beef broth, diced onion, salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, and oregano.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on Low for 6 hours, or until the beef is fully cooked and no longer pink. Stir occasionally if you’re able.
  4. Drain & Store: Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove the beef from the slow cooker and transfer it to a large bowl, leaving the grease behind.

My Pro Tip

Recipe Tips:

  • If you want plain ground beef just leave out all the seasonings and onion
  • Make this one batch and portion it out for any meal you might be making to help with meal prep
  • Add some cream cheese at the end if you want to make this into a creamy ground beef recipe

Storage Instructions:

Fridge: Let the beef cool, then store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Freezer: To freeze, let the beef cool completely. Portion into freezer-safe bags or containers, removing as much air as possible. Label and date, then freeze for up to 2 months.

Recipe FAQ’s:

Ground meat to use:

Ground beef is my favorite to use in the slow cooker, but you can use ground turkey or ground chicken in place of the beef.

Can you put raw beef in the slow cooker?

Yes, you can put ground beef in the slow cooker right from the package. Browning the beef ahead of time isn’t necessary, but browning the meat does add a little bit different flavor and texture.

How to use ground beef:

What I love about this ground beef recipe is that you can use the cooked lean ground beef in different recipes to skip ahead and great for preparing meals for the week.
