Made With Love,
Key Ingredients:
- Broth: To get the best flavor, I use a combination of beef broth and chicken broth with the lean ground beef.
- Sour cream: Using sour cream in this recipe is a great way to get a tasty, creamy sauce to mix with the wide egg noodles.
- Flour: Adding a little all-purpose flour is how you will thicken up the sauce, mixed with the tender ground beef meat sauce

How to Make Ground Beef Stroganoff:
- In a large pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat and add the mushrooms, and cook until brown. Remove to a separate plate.
- Add beef to the pan and cook for about 7 minutes or until about 80% of the way cooked. Drain any excess grease.
- Add the onions and garlic, cook for a few minutes until soft, and the beef is completely cooked.
- Add in the seasonings and the flour, mix, and cook for about a minute.
- Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the pan as you go, and cook until the liquid is mostly gone.
- Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer. Add in the mushrooms and noodles. Cover and let simmer on low, gently stirring a few times until noodles are cooked.
- Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.
My Pro Tip

Recipe FAQs
The all-purpose flour is one of the easiest ways to thicken the sauce for this recipe.
If it is not working, make a cornstarch slurry (1:1 ratio) and add it to the sauce, and give it time to thicken up.
If you prefer, plain Greek Yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream, and adds a good amount of protein as well.
Normally, it is a combination of sour cream, beef broth, sauteed onions, mushrooms, and a thickening agent like cornstarch or all-purpose flour.
You can add Worcestershire sauce to the creamy sauce, as it will add another level of flavor. I like this version of stroganoff sauce better without the added Worcestershire sauce.
